EPL
The start of the new season of EPL is finally here. Last weekend, we witnessed the beginning of a long marathon of English football league, which the winner will walk with not only the coveted trophy but also the realization that they are the best in one of the most watched football league in the world.
The big fours each played their first match of the season on Saturday and Sunday. My beloved team, Liverpool played against the newly promoted Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The Kops are a real disappointment, having to work hard to earn a draw against the gusty Sheffives. Rafa’s newly assembled team of Craig Bellamy, Fabio Aurelio, Daniel Agger and Mark Gonzalez were no where near their capabilities. Out of them, probably Bellamy looks like a decent buy of the season as he creates some chances for himself and Godly wrong footed Fowler. Even, my pal, a Spurs fan was so disgusted that he asked for beanpole Crouch to come out to replace Fowler.
This match proves one important aspect of the game, that’s you can’t expect magic to happen simply by putting all these new players into the team. This is like expecting a high performance car simply by just buying all the parts without tweaking a thing or two.
On the other hand, our perpetual rivals, Man U has done it through the old, tried trusted method. The team consisting of old birds like Paul Scholes, Wayne Ronney, Ronaldo and even Solskjaer has been so tightly gel together that they played a beautiful game of the English football where they thrashed Fulham 5 to 1. The flairs of these seasoned players, (hate to say it!) are simply magnificent. No wonder, that old bastard Fergie is smiling, which is such a rare sight these days. He must be thinking that there is finally a chance for his soldiers to hit the jackpot for this season.
Anyway, the season is long, who knows what might happened? Let’s just enjoy many more nights of great football, booze and food.
Cheers!
