Blah, blah, blah......

Finally the unpredictable blogger editor is working again. So finally can BLOG about my fcuk up life. Aiyah kidding lah..not fcuk up lah...just super F only lor... where F stands for Father shout, mother shout (Hokkien Kao Bei, Kao Bu!) lah...

I added a new link to a blogger (see side bar). His site is Mada Mada, he's a twenty year old guy just starting to waste his 2 years life in NS and now trying to chow ken his way out of the "siong" Army Life.
To me, the life of the modern Singapore recruit is really like that of a sissy aka bapok. They got servants to serve them their daily meals, wash their plates and they don't even need to clean the cookhouse. They are just short of having the Ah Sum to bathe them and powder them.
Compared to our olden days where we as recruits have to wash cookhouse, bear the temperment Ah Beng cooks who sometimes out to tekang you, give a moutain full of plain rice accompanied by an one inch size stale chicken meat topped with some yellow vegetables.

Also, let's look at the typical life of a solider now.

1) 7.30am wake up go breakfast
2) 8.30am come back and sleep
3) 12.30pm change and go for lunch
4) 1.30pm come back and sleep
5) 4.30pm stroll on the 2.4km track
5) 6pm eat dinner
7) 7pm rest and free time for R&R
8) 11pm lights off!

Now, let's look at a lao jiao soldier some years back.
1)6.45am wake up and stand out platoon level carrying our metal trays for breakfast.
2) 7.15am sleepy Sgt comes out and kao bei that we the Botak "disturb" his beauty sleep!
3) 7.30am Still no breakfast...doing pull ups before breakfast.
8)8.30am Finished breakfast, draw arms
9)8.45am Stand by bed warning order out.
10)9am Panic
11) 9.30am Missiles of toothbrush, kiwi, cup, fork and spoon flying in the bunk
12) 10.45am One hundred and twenty push ups with 200 more to go!
13) 11.30am 3 mins to change long 4
14) 11.45am Push up position again before lunch
15) 12 pm Mount the chee bye pull up bars again, one, one..one...no count, no count...urghh....
16) 12.45pm Lunch over and time for GYM
17) 2pm GYM over and finally 30 mins break
18)2.30pm Trap! Stand by bed again, this time M16 rifle must be clean and shiny
19)4pm Exhausted but SOC time
20) 5pm Still struck at low wall
21) 5.45 pm Still struck at low wall
22) 6pm Crawl back to bunk, prepare for dinner
23) 6.45pm Cannot eat beacuse too shacked
24) 7pm kena to clean cookhouse!
25) 7.15am Private Chow Beng cook ordering us arounf while he kiao ka slipping a icy cold orange syrup drink
26) 8pm Night training... "Program-How to be immune to vulgarities!"
27) 9pm Half deaf with echo of chee bye chee bye....in the background
28) 9.30pm Night snack, one Roti with one super diluted Milo but must sing song to Sgt before you can have a bite.
29) 10.15pm Finally some private time to call you loved ones using the public phone.. wah lau 20 mins before lights out and the queue stretches from Bedok to Jurong.
30) 11pm Lights off!

Wah Kao!

EPL

The start of the new season of EPL is finally here. Last weekend, we witnessed the beginning of a long marathon of English football league, which the winner will walk with not only the coveted trophy but also the realization that they are the best in one of the most watched football league in the world.

The big fours each played their first match of the season on Saturday and Sunday. My beloved team, Liverpool played against the newly promoted Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. The Kops are a real disappointment, having to work hard to earn a draw against the gusty Sheffives. Rafa’s newly assembled team of Craig Bellamy, Fabio Aurelio, Daniel Agger and Mark Gonzalez were no where near their capabilities. Out of them, probably Bellamy looks like a decent buy of the season as he creates some chances for himself and Godly wrong footed Fowler. Even, my pal, a Spurs fan was so disgusted that he asked for beanpole Crouch to come out to replace Fowler.
This match proves one important aspect of the game, that’s you can’t expect magic to happen simply by putting all these new players into the team. This is like expecting a high performance car simply by just buying all the parts without tweaking a thing or two.
On the other hand, our perpetual rivals, Man U has done it through the old, tried trusted method. The team consisting of old birds like Paul Scholes, Wayne Ronney, Ronaldo and even Solskjaer has been so tightly gel together that they played a beautiful game of the English football where they thrashed Fulham 5 to 1. The flairs of these seasoned players, (hate to say it!) are simply magnificent. No wonder, that old bastard Fergie is smiling, which is such a rare sight these days. He must be thinking that there is finally a chance for his soldiers to hit the jackpot for this season.
Anyway, the season is long, who knows what might happened? Let’s just enjoy many more nights of great football, booze and food.

Cheers!

National Day, let's reflect

Finally got the time and mood to post something on my blog. Tomorrow is National Day and as always, you see tons of Singaporean trying their best to be patrotic by buying the $6 Hang Ten Official T-Shirt. Trust me, by the time National Day Fever is over, the price of the T-Shirt be sold at $2. Prehaps, that the time to buy it and store it for the Next National Day.

Still on the topic of our National Pride Day, Digital Life of the Straits Times was commenting on the topic of flying the flag online, talking about cynical Singaporean bloggers posting on their sites with their old rendition of being a Singaporean. I was quite excited when I saw the headlines as I was half expecting my lohteekaya blog to be mentioned briefly in the articles. Alamak, fat hope lor...Boh leh.. despite the fact that my blog was featured prominently on technorati tag site (First for the last few weeks).

National day probably reminds me of the some of our acheivements throughout the years. For one, we are known as the country with many werid rules, for example No Chewing Gum, No Durians in Buses and blah blah... For a typical foreigner visiting Singapore for the first time, I supposed that they would be a but apprehensive given all sort of law and rules we have. Typically, for the ignorant, Singapore may sound a little communist (hence the reference that Singapore is part of a state in China).
Whatever the case, we have grown accustomed to such "restrictions" and have already assmilated into the "Singapore-a fine Country" culture.
However what have surprised me is that such a culture has seemingly been finding its way to other Asia countries.
For example, on my earlier trip to Hong Kong while visiting the Big Buddha in Lantau Island, I came across a ridiculous law which upon reflecting upon it made me feel so much closer to home.
Here is a picture taken from the coach that was fetching us.
The sign reads." It is an offence in law for a passenger to talk to a driver. "

Yo! Is that true?

Hmm, this is really werid, a law that forbids human interaction?
So I will be breaking the law if I just greet the driver, " Lei Ho?" Come on, which idiot thought of such a foolish law.
This certainly is on par with our chewing gum law, isn't it?

Let's just just reflect on this while we enjoy our country birthday.
